Grey’s Anatomy Season 5 Final in Two Hours

Tuesday 19 May 2009, by Mokuji

Last week on "Grey’s Anatomy," Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) gave their wedding to Izzie (Katherine Heigl) when it was discovered that she had a new brain tumor. So the question remains, will Mer-Der ever get married? Will Izzie die? ET turns to Matt Roush, TV Guide magazine’s senior critic for some answers.

"All we know about ’Grey’s Anatomy’ is almost everybody will be back next season," he says. "Jessica Capshaw will be back full time as Arizona, the lesbian girlfriend of Callie (Sara Ramirez). We don’t know if Meredith and Derek are getting married. We don’t know if Izzie is going to die. We don’t know if George (T.R. Knight) is going to leave." Then he adds, "If Izzie does die, it will be one of the best TV deaths ever."

"This could be one way of cutting costs," says Entertainment Weekly’s senior writer Jennifer Armstrong. "It’s also possible that they’re even faking us out on purpose."

What we do know is Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark (Eric Dane) is ready to take his relationship with Lexie (Chyler Leigh) to the next level, and a patient makes Owen (Kevin McKidd) reassess his place at Seattle Grace.

"Owen is tortured. He is trying to get past his post traumatic stress demons," Matt adds. "He is tortured. He is trying to get past his post traumatic stress demons."

"Grey’s Anatomy"’s two-hour season finale airs Thursday, May 14 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
